Considered the gold standard of hardwood installation, the nail‑down method has stood the test of time. It’s perfect for both solid and engineered hardwood, but it requires a wooden subfloor. When this option is available, it delivers unmatched stability and a classic feel that homeowners love.
Today’s most common installation method. As homebuilding has evolved, so have installation techniques. With most modern homes built on concrete slab foundations, glue‑down installation has become the go‑to method. This technique bonds your hardwood directly to the foundation, creating a strong, durable floor that feels solid underfoot.
Hardwood floors can be installed using the floating method of installation. This is the most budget friendly method of installation. This does require the use of an underlayment and a moisture barrier when going over a slab.
Always follow your floor manufacturer’s installation instructions for best practices and methods. To protect your warranty, floors must be installed by a licensed flooring contractor otherwise, warranty will be voided.
