Methods of Installation
Hardwood floor and Engineered Hardwood floors can be installed using a few different methods and techniques usually determined by the type of home and specific product.
Nail Down
Nail down hardwood floor installation is the gold standard for installing hardwood floors for both solid hardwood and engineered hardwood floors. This technique has stood the test of time but will only work directly over a wooden subfloor.
Glue Down
Glue down installation of hardwood floors has become ever more popular and even the new standard of hardwood floor installation. Due to the way that builders lay the foundation for our homes. Most homes today are built on a concrete slab foundation making the glue down method of installation the standard go to method.
Floating Method
Hardwood floors can be installed using the floating method of installation. This is the most budget friendly method of installation. This does require the use of an underlayment and a moisture barrier when going over a slab.
Always consult with your floors manufacture instructions for the best practice and method. Warranties will be forfeited unless installed by a licensed flooring contractor.
